Just arrived home after a challenging day in Terre Haute. Really just want to put today's 5-0 defeat behind us. It's over. Tomorrow is a new day.

Honestly, we created more chances today than in recent matches. We just seem to be experiencing a bit of Murphy's Law right now, on the field and off.

Times are tough, and circumstances are unusual. But there are still 12 games left in the season, and the OVC season is still two weeks away.

Many may be surprised, but I won't be when results start falling our way.

Murray State away on Thursday. We'll regroup, and when we step on the field in Kentucky, we'll play to win.

Hmmm....No excuses here. We don't like being 0-5. We felt prepared to compete yesterday, but an early red card led to a long Sunday afternoon.

There were silver linings, and I'll lean on those at this time. Despite being down a man, the second-half effort the ladies put forth was admirable. They fought hard, and threatened to score a few times. One goal would have provided even more belief. But it wasn't to be.

Statistics say we won the possession battle 56%-44%. Doesn't change the 0-3 score line. But the ladies connected passes and showed an ability to play some good possession soccer, even down a player.

Finally, I thought there were 2 standout performances:

Olivia Klinkhardt stepped into the center back role and shined in her first significant minutes since joining the team.

Rachel Kretzer continued to prove herself as one of our steadiest and most consistent performers.

I can only assure you we will keep pushing, and as one fan in the stands behind me kept repeating yeaterday, "There's plenty of soccer still to be played!"

I don't really believe in moral victories. And I certainly don't want to get comfortable in defeat. But our ladies are working hard and we are seeing significant improvements. Some notable performances were seen at every position last night.

Cayla Koerner stepped in under unique circumstances and was impressive in goal. Emma Cloud put in a solid 90 minutes at center back. Hayley Hogenmiller was strong in her attacking role. And Alyssa Schulte put in solid work off the bench in a midfield role.

The end result was a 3-0 defeat to a formidable Missouri State squad.

We have another opportunity at home on Sunday vs. North Alabama at 1:00 PM.

Please join us at Houck. I think you'll appreciate the work the ladies are putting in and the effort they are putting out. The results will come. Keep believing.

Go Redhawks!

Just now finding time for a quick update on last night's match in Carbondale vs the Salukis. Still searching for that first victory of the year. I give credit to our squad for their defensive organization and effort. But we didn't quite produce enough offensive punch at the other end of the field. A 2-0 loss was the final.

Laia Amat put in a strong performance in the middle of the field and Justi Nelson continues to lead by example with her outstanding energy.

2 home matches next Thursday and Sunday. Coming to Cape are MO State and North Alabama.

Hooe to see you at Houck!

Headed back from Nashville. Progress was made. We took pride in protecting our goal tonight. Solid defensive performances from Zoe, Cayla, and Emma.

Hoping to combine Thursday's attacking performance with tonight's defensive organization.

Next up, a short trip to SIU-Carbondale on Thursday.

Final.

Well...........it wasn't quite the result we were looking for. But it sure was a heck of a lot of fun. The atmosphere was amazing. Thanks to everybody who made it out to the match.

And a special thanks to Coach Palmer and her SEMO women's basketball ladies for their amazing support! Our ladies felt the love!❤️❤️

Always great to score 3 goals. But difficult to win when you concede 4. Overall, I'm proud of the 90 minute effort.

I'd like to give special mention to Alli Saviano on a terrific full-match performance, to Rachel Kretzer on a fantastic SEMO debut, and Amelia Lawrence on a solid performance and a goal in her SEMO debut.

And finally, Player of the Match for me was Justi Nelson: 2 super goals and tremendous energy all night.

Next up, a trip to Nashville on Sunday to play Belmont University.

Go Redhawks!!

Final.

Redhawks battle to the end, but fall in the season opener.

Back in action on Sunday, August 17, at Belmont. Kickoff slated for 6 p.m. in Nashville, Tennessee.
