The beautiful blonde girl that had caught his eye a few months back, probably also had increased his visits to town. He had discovered her pattern and had made himself at comfort with the thought she could never be in love with a man like himself. Through more conversation with the clerk about her than any previous talk in the last 7 years combined, coming to the candy shop he had discovered she was a professor at Carmel University, a college in the town of Carmel in Monterey county, about 240 miles from where they currently were. She was there during summer holiday visiting family and learning the business of construction. She was fascinated at the growth of some of the cities she liked to visit, especially San Francisco after the earthquake in 1906. The architecture was improving and the hastily built unsafe buildings of the time were a way of the past. Her family wanted her to learn as much as possible in all areas of business and knew she could benefit from the time with her uncle in Rancho Cordova. Upon one of her subsequent visits to the candy shop she discovered her order was paid for already, she was dumbfounded and asked the clerk how this could be. He told her of D.A and she did remember the same dirty young man had been there upon most of her visits and never thought more than a coincidence. She admits she was a bit superficial and had thought of him in no way other than another human being before this time.

New History coming out after 9 years! Here's a sneak peek!..

"What he did at Carmel University or for a living for that matter is highly debated..."

He was charming good looking suave charismatic debonair and in some eyes not to be trusted as far as you can throw him. Known to give you the shirt off his back, sell it to you or he could wrap it around his fist and give it you a bit more personally.
Not one for lots of words or the mincing of them. The few people who I interviewed that knew him well enough personally or through stories said he was the loyalist of friends but if he didn't like you......

Having almost forgotten the childhood dream, many years later while living in Carmel California, Walker would again see a Havanese owned by a local artist. This sparked his interest again but this time Walker had become one of the richest men in America and could afford to have as many Havanese dogs as he pleased. It was only a few short years later he would receive Princess From Churchill. Princess Carmela Vanderbilt would go on to become the unofficial mascot for Carmel University. (The Mariners were the official mascot for the University). Princess could be found running up and down the sidelines wearing her custom made Mariner Rain jacket at almost every Home football Game from 1941-1958.

Princess Carmela was a fan favorite, even after costing the Mariners the state championship in 1956. During the Final minutes of a tied football game against the schools longest held rivals, Cambria University. Sophomore Football standout, son of football coach Frank Groupe Sr. and youngest student at Carmel University, Frank Groupe Jr. ran a punt return all the way back to the opposite end zone to tie Carmel with Cambria. During the extra point kick Princess ran onto the field causing a flag and the play to be done over. The first kick had gone in, Unfortunately the second kick missed. Of course there were a few very upset people in the crowd considering this would have been the 9th year straight Carmel University would take the State Championship. Frank Groupe Sr. threatened to quit, but was eventually calmed by his own love for the tiny dog, and the fact that princess Carmela was very old and almost blind by this time. Princess Carmela amazingly passed at 17 on the very same day Carmel University burned to ground and Rodney Allen Walker died of a massive Heart attack.

With Carmel University usually all you see is the old! Hi! It's Brian creator of The Carmel University universe. It's been 9 years since Vaughn Chambers The fictional character bringing us the research he's done and then putting into story form has written a new character into the history of Carmel University. Since I'm the one who actually creates all this it means in real life I havnt written a new story in 9 years! I'm excited to tell you a new story is coming!!!!!!! And it's the best yet. Tomorrow I will release a small snippet of the new story a little teaser. Here's a look at my process enjoy.... Picture is worth about as many words as are in this picture look closely there's story there!!!!! Stay tuned!!!

I decided that going forward I would allow anyone to register and have there names added to the list of students faculty or employees and so on and so fourth who wanted
to be part of the schools history.

For free anyone can add there names to the history. And I would then offer paid packages giving people the option to have a bigger role in the schools history.
I saved positions such as presidents deans professors and such to have as the highest paid packages.

You can be any person you'd like in the history as in real life there are many jobs and things connected to a university. My brother wanted to be a janitor. So I made him the heads ground keeper! You will see his story in the history number 9 and 10. Both he and his wife are In it.

I didn't have the money to hire anyone for anything so I wrote all of it myself. I would post a new story once a week on Friday to my personal face book page and the page I made for carmel university to build a following.
I'm a procrastinator so I waited every week till the Friday I would release the new story to write each story. I would chose the person who wanted to be in the schools history earlier in the week after they told me what they wanted to be and think about it during the week but not write anything. I sat down around 9:30 in the morning on that Friday and would start writing. I would have a basic idea and just start writing to fish out the story. Once I started writing I would have to research the topics and things I included in the story for accuracy so when people read it the story would be realistic. If people researched anything.

After arriving in California McCarthy split from Walker and Brokman, but stayed in contact through letters. Until 1916 when he was asked by Walker to come back to California and head up the automotive mechanics department, one of the first of its kind in America. After going on his own and many years later during the winter of 1903, McCarthy had the unbelievable good fortune of meeting an avid young businessman and future founder of one of the largest automotive manufacturers in the world...Henry Ford. Ford took an instant liking to McCarthy and offered him a position at the fledgling automakers plant in Michigan. Over the next decade or so McCarthy would go on to assist in developing some of the most popular cars of all time , till his move back to California upon request of Walker. The chance encounter with Ford would make McCarthy so wealthy that even today direct decendants of McCarthy are still living off of the trust he started before his death. McCarthy was head of the automotive dept from 1916-1925.

Fittingly, on May 30, 1941 McCarthy was fatally injured during a crash at the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race (Indianapolis 500). Always a fan of racing, McCarthy was allowed to take a few laps around the track before the race by friend and winner of the race that year Mauri Rose, who was driving relief for Floyd Davis. Coming around the last turn on his final lap McCarthy suffered a stroke losing control of the car and slamming into a retaining wall, the crash killed McCarthy instantly. A common story told has it McCarthy died with a smile on his face.

McCarthy had been a steamboat mechanic from a very young age, his father Thadeus McCarthy had migrated to America when Gregg was still an infant, finding work as a steamboat mechanic on a boat that traveled up and down the Mississippi river. Gregg was always by his fathers side and was fascinated by the mechanical workings of steam engines very early, able to work on the engines by age 5. It wasn't until his early teens that his father was offered a job by the British East India Company. The pay was too good to pass so the two took the long journey to India. Only several months after arriving in India Thadeus Mccarthy was killed, during an explosion of an engine aboard the steamboat he worked on. Greg survived the explosion with no injuries but found no help from the British owned East India Company, which would add to his loathing of the British. Left to fend for himself young McCarthy would occasionally find enough work to scrape by an existence. It was only a few short years later destiny would have him cross paths with his future lifelong friends Walker and Brokman. Continued next post

Gregg Thadeus McCarthy, served as head of the automotive mechanics department at Carmel University from 1916-1925. McCarthy attained this position as many of the professors at Carmel university did, by being a personal friend of Rodney Allen Walker. McCarthy met Rodney Allen Walker along with Steven Scott Brokman while living in India. The three made fast friends and it was actually McCarthy that caused the three wayward young men to be forced out of India before finishing there journey to California in 1873.
Research shows the three traveled in and around India trying to cause trouble for the British. At this time India was under British control, Both McCarthy from Ireland and Brokman of Scottish decent hated the British. Being young and full of p**s and vinegar didn't help.
Walker joined along just for the fun of it. The trio traveled from town to town rallying support from the local Indian population to form a revolt against the Brits. It took quite some time for officials to catch up to the three but when they did they were jailed. Details are few but the three managed to escape their captors and flee to America on what appears to have been a stolen ship.

The bar was full of friends and business associates as well as faculty and students. Walker felt humiliated in front of all of his friends and was said to have been almost in tears, though some would say his eyes were always watery as he was well into his later years. Walker apparently left the bar without speaking a single word, and never spoke to Walker-Nolan again. . . . Later in life Walker-Nolan would list this as one of his greatest regrets. He had in reality always admired and looked up to Rodney Allen Walker. Rodney Allen Walker closed the Theatre after only one year. It is believed that the theatre was a constant reminder of the incident and Walker found no joy in operating the theatre.

"Lil" Carl P. Walker would only serve 4 years as president of the University, stepping down in 1930. In 1935, after a production of By Candlelight, the Golden Bough was destroyed by fire. Kuster, who had previously bought out the Arts and Crafts Theatre, moved his operation to the older facility and renamed it the Golden Bough Playhouse. In 1949, after remounting By Candlelight, the playhouse burned to the ground. It was rebuilt and reopened in 1952. It was suspected "Lil" Carl P. Walker may have had something to do with these fires, possibly trying to make things right for his argument with Rodney Allen Walker years before. Oddly enough Carmel University would burn to the ground only a few years later in 1958. . . it was then rumored Carmel University was purposely destroyed as retaliation for the previous fires burning the Golden Bough, but after numerous interviews and countless hours of research it appears rumor was all it was. . . . (*1) "Lil" Carl P. Walker (b. - d. ) Served as President of Carmel University 1926 - 1930
