The Morrow Plots have a new gate, with a new fence coming soon too. Installation required the hard work of many, including F&S ironworkers, construction-laborers, and operator-engineers.

Congrats to University of Illinois College of ACES on their sweet new gate! Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming 150-year celebration events planned for this fall.

Occupational Safety & Health’s quick start guide to heat safety ⬇️

The University of Illinois’ OSH has instated a Heat Illness Prevention Program in accordance with OSHA’s new heat regulations.

Deans, department heads, and directors are responsible for implementing this program on the local level. They must also appoint a Responsible Person for work locations with high temperature exposure.

The Responsible Person will coordinate the unit-level implementation of the Heat Illness Prevention Program.

Supervisors, managers, and Principal Investigators take care of day-to-day enforcement of this program for employees they direct.

Faculty, Staff, and Student Workers must follow the program’s requirements. Be sure to report any signs of heat illness immediately.

Occupational Safety & Health is responsible for creating this program and maintaining its base documents.

This program ensures heat illness prevention for all employees.

OSHA has instituted a National Emphasis Program for Outdoor and Indoor Heat-Related Hazards.

This program establishes requirements to protect workers in environments where the temperature or heat index is 80 degrees Fahrenheit or above.

The Occupational Safety & Health team has developed the Heat Illness Prevention Program and a Quick Start Guide to help prepare the community for heat-related hazards.

All supervisors must implement this program, and faculty and staff are expected to familiarize themselves with the university’s heat safety requirements.
