A new chapter in biopharmaceutical workforce development has officially begun at South Piedmont!
Yesterday, South Piedmont officially opened its 21,000-square-foot Aseptic Training Facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at our Old Charlotte Highway Campus.
The first facility of its kind in southcentral North Carolina, the Aseptic Training Facility features state-of-the-art classrooms, advanced aseptic processing labs and simulated manufacturing spaces designed to prepare students for careers in the growing biopharmaceutical industry.
Through hands-on training in areas such as chemistry and microbiology, quality systems and compliance, and aseptic processing, students will have the opportunity to earn their NC BioWork Certification and gain skills that can help them enter the life sciences workforce.
This facility represents more than a new building. It represents an investment in our students, our employers and the future of our region. By bringing specialized training to Union County, South Piedmont is helping build a skilled workforce while creating new opportunities for students and strengthening our community’s connection to the growing life sciences industry.
We’re grateful to the North Carolina General Assembly and our industry partners, including Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and the Golden LEAF Foundation, for helping make this facility possible. Glenmark Pharmaceuticals has contributed more than $2.7 million in materials and equipment to support the facility.
We’re excited to see where this investment takes our students, our community and the future of biopharmaceutical workforce development in our region.
