Japanese Student Association is a contracted independent organization (CIO) operating at the University of Virginia. Although Japanese Student Association membership is composed primarily of University of Virginia students, it is not a part nor an agency of the University. The affairs of Japanese Student Association are managed solely the organization itself. The University does not direct, supervise or control the organization and is not responsible for the contracts, acts or omissions of Japanese Student Association.

Join us in folding origami cranes to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the March 11, 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. Stop by for however long you can and Japanese Snacks will be provided.

This project honors Taylor Anderson and Montgomery Dickson, two American JET teachers who lost their lives in the disaster, and celebrates their dream of building bridges between the U.S. and Japan

In Japanese culture, the crane symbolizes peace and longevity. Folding one thousand cranes represents hope, healing, and solidarity. Together, we will contribute to a collaborative collage project that continues bonds of friendship and remembrance. 🎌❤️
