In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month our team is sharing letters written to ourselves!

Up next is letter writer Rebekah!

Dear Rebekah,

I know how hard things can get sometimes but remember how far you’ve come. It was not that long ago (6 years now) that you were hospitalized for your mental health and you saw no way out. Now you are a nurse helping other people in the same position as you. Remember that it is possible to get better, and that it is possible to continue to get better. Remember this even when things get hard. Hang in there. I am proud of you.

Its time to share another letter to ourselves In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month!

Up next is letter writer Bridget!

Dear Younger Bridget,

You are a sweet, sensitive soul, full of light and imagination. You spent some time not understanding why you felt so different from others, why your thoughts were so powerful. You will be diagnosed with OCD, and it’s going to consume your life for a while. Good news is, you will get all the help and support you need. Your journey will not be easy, but it will be rewarding when you reflect back on these hardships. The best part is that you will never lose the sweet, sensitive, imaginative part of yourself.

We’re back for another round of letter to ourselves In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month!

Next we have letter writer Chelsea!

Dear Chelsea,

I’m so sorry for everything that OCD has stolen from you; months of joy & peace and special moments with your child and husband.  It’s hard to know that’s all gone, but what you have now is a strength you didn’t know you had. You have a deeper love and care for yourself and those around you. OCD may try to come and mess things up, but thanks to ERP, you know how to deal with it! You know how to move forward in freedom and trust in yourself! Keep going girl! You’ve got this! ❤️

Dear Younger Me,

I know things suck so bad right now, and it feels like there’s no way out. I know you’ve convinced yourself that you are hopeless and will never recover. That you’ve relegated yourself to endless days and nights of anxiety. Oh, how I wish I could convince you that you will be okay. Keep taking those baby steps, no matter how small, and remember a bad day doesn’t mean all your progress is gone. I won’t tell you that the journey won’t be hard or complicated or long or terrifying, but I need you to know that facing all that fear will lead to the greatest reward- a life you love. Keep going. One day at a time. ❤️

It’s time for another round of letters to ourselves written by our team In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month!

Next is another one of our letter writers, Chloe!

Dear Younger Me,

I know life can be so uncertain with many twists and turns, but know you are stronger than you think. You will face challenges you never thought you would be able to conquer, but know that with determination and perseverance, you will get through these times. Times will get hard but remember to keep hope that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Life is messy, but you will eventually learn to embrace it! Most importantly, remember to cherish the present. I know how easy it is to get wrapped up in the future, but remember there is no time like now!

XOXO,
Future You

Next is one of our letter writers, Madelyn!

Dear Younger Me,

Sweet girl, you have no idea what’s in store for you! I know how scared you are right now but I promise you it will get better and you will overcome more than you ever thought you could. Your life is SO worth it! You are SO loved by your family, friends, and believe it or not, yourself! There will always be good in the world, it’s ok to focus on that. Don’t be afraid to slow down and appreciate the little things like going to Anna’s, hugs from Mom, playing with the pets, watching Kate grow up, connecting with your relatives, and so much more! Let yourself learn and grow. You’re doing just fine and you’re going to be more than ok, I promise!!

We’re kicking off with our founder, Lisa!

Dear Lisa,

I see how hard you’ve worked to get to this point. Every single day, you show up and do your best. I know that sometimes your best doesn’t feel like enough, but I promise you, it is. Please give yourself even a fraction of the love and compassion you give to those around you. Take care of yourself and your mind. Prioritize your needs. Trust yourself. Keep on keeping on, you’ve got this!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Over 1 in 5 children and adults have a diagnosed mental illness, and so many more live without diagnoses, treatment, or support. Starting the conversation about the realities of living with mental health challenges can be difficult, but it can also save lives.

We are sending love to anyone currently struggling with their mental health, who has struggled, and individuals supporting someone struggling.

You are loved, you are important, and you matter.
