International House of Chicago is a residential cultural center serving the University of Chicago co

International House serves students and scholars of the University of Chicago community as well as the greater Chicago community with a wide array of programs. Over 150 public programs are held each year at International House. These include music and cultural performances, outreach programs with Chicago-area international organizations, collaborations with foreign consulates, language exchanges a

nd discussions, and forums and debates led by distinguished guest speakers through the Global Voices Program.

From medieval secret societies to social medial spirals, conspiracy culture took center stage last week at I-House in collaboration with the IOP last week.

The Truth Is Out There… and It’s Trending: Conspiracy Culture Across American History brought together Jamelle Bouie, Brace Belden, Christopher Fee, and Elise Wang for a lively conversation on how conspiracy theories evolved from whispered rumors to timeline mainstays and what that shift means for American public life today.

Big questions, shared tables, and meaningful dialogue💡

Last week, International House welcomed a full room for Conflict for Common Good: An Interfaith Inquiry into Religion & Power, an evening centered on how faith traditions grapple with power, responsibility, and the common good.

Guests heard from David French, Rabbi Rachel Mikva, and Ahmed Rehab, with moderation by Megan Whitaker. Their conversation invited reflection on religion’s role in shaping society, and how dialogue across difference can move us forward.
