We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution is a service learning program offered through the Center for Service and Social Action. The program pairs student-tutors from JCU with 4th or 5th, 8th, and High School classrooms in the East Cleveland and Cleveland school districts. JCU students visit schools on a weekly basis to lead students in activities and exercises that reinforce learning about the Constitution and its role in our society.

General information

JCU students are supported in their tutoring with teachers’ editions of text books, professional development, and teaching resources from JCU and the Ohio Center for Law-Related Education (OCLRE). They can receive course credit through a corresponding class (AR 144) that encourages reflection and discussion about urban education and service, or through other service learning courses offered across the University's curriculum. For more information, visit us in the Center for Service and Social Action (AD32).
