Saint John’s Day 2026 was a special evening on campus as we gathered in gratitude for our leadership benefactors and volunteers who sustain our Benedictine mission—and celebrated the record-setting philanthropic support for Saint John’s.

We were proud to honor Dick Howard ’72 with the Father Walter Reger Distinguished Alumnus Award, recognizing a lifetime of service and dedication to Saint John’s.

The evening also celebrated the launch of the Humanities Institute in honor of Father Rene McGraw, OSB—a meaningful tribute to a beloved teacher and champion of the liberal arts. Heartfelt reflections from alumni Steve Halverson ’76, Kerem Durdag ’91, and Kevin Healy ’76 helped make the celebration especially meaningful.

And to top it off, alumni Dave Cofell ’88 and Tom Kuhn ’82 provided wonderful musical entertainment that made the night even more memorable.

Thank you to all who joined us for such a joyful celebration of community, generosity, and the enduring impact of a Saint John’s education.

Former Johnnie point guard Patrick Bowlin ’12 is now an assistant women’s basketball coach at Wisconsin-Green Bay.

The Phoenix (25-8) take on the University of Minnesota (22-8) in the first round of the NCAA Division I tournament at 5 p.m. Friday (March 20) at Williams Arena.

Bowlin was director of basketball operations at Green Bay from 2021-23, then served as an assistant coach during the 2023-24 season. He was an assistant at Idaho State last season before returning to the Phoenix to serve on new head coach Kayla Karius’ staff this season. Bowlin’s sister Devin ’11 played basketball and softball at the College of Saint Benedict.
