Let’s dive into WellMama’s brand photography and videography session!🦋

In collaboration with Rift Media our team filmed videos for both WellMama and WellMama en Español to introduce their organization and highlight the importance of their work. The videos explore the range of services and resources they offer, as well as the meaningful impact they have on families throughout the community.

We also captured photographs of the team in action alongside families they have supported through different stages of parenthood, in addition to updated headshots for the organization. This included documenting their space, where we especially loved seeing how children interacted with the hanging butterfly installations throughout the environment.
This phase of the project followed the branding work, ensuring WellMama had high-quality, up-to-date visual media that aligned seamlessly with their refreshed identity.

We’re so excited to finally share what we’ve been working on! 💜

WellMama is a nonprofit that supports new, expectant, and grieving parents through pregnancy and postpartum with mental health resources, education, wellness services, peer support, and advocacy. They also hold a very special place in our hearts. When I became a new mom, WellMama supported me through some of my hardest days. They helped me feel normal, listened without judgment, and gave me a safe place to grow into the confident mother I am today.🦋

When they came to us looking to completely refresh their branding and website, we were thrilled to begin the journey. It feels like a true full-circle moment.

Our goal was to reflect the supportive nature of their mission through thoughtful imagery, typography, and color. We refined their existing palette to feel bolder, more cohesive, and higher contrast while maintaining the softness and warmth of their previous branding. We also developed a typographic system that balances strength with nurturing care.

Because WellMama includes three distinct subbrands: WellMama, WellMama en Español, and Life After Loss…we created a structured design system that gives each its own identity while clearly belonging to the same family.

One of our favorite parts of the project was developing the illustrative system inspired by metamorphosis, the Fender’s blue butterfly, and the lupine flowers native to the Willamette Valley. Together they symbolize transformation, growth, grief, healing, and community…all such beautiful reflections of the journeys WellMama supports every day.

We also partnered with Rift Media for photo and video production and Roost Web Strategies to assist with building the custom website experience.

This has been our largest project to date, and we are incredibly grateful to have played a role in supporting such meaningful work. Thank you to the WellMama team, Sydnee and Lilly our in house designers, Angel and River at Rift Media , and Melanie and Brian at Roost Web Strategies 💜

Stay tuned as we share more from this rebrand in the coming weeks!

Happy Mother’s Day! 🤍

Yesterday marked my second Mother’s Day with my sweet girl, and somehow she’s already 16 months old. Becoming a mama has changed me in more ways than I ever could’ve imagined.

Running a business while also trying to be fully present as a mother is beautiful, rewarding, exhausting, and hard all at once. There are days I feel pulled in every direction, trying to balance deadlines, creativity, motherhood, and making space for myself too.

But one thing I’ve learned is that as mothers, we can’t pour endlessly from an empty cup. It’s important that we continue doing the things that light us up, inspire us, and make us feel like ourselves too. Whether that’s creating, resting, dreaming, working toward goals, or simply taking a quiet moment alone…those things matter.

When we take care of ourselves, we show up better for our babies too. 🤍

To every mother navigating the balance of motherhood, work, identity, and everything in between…you’re doing an incredible job. And I see you. Every journey looks different, and there’s beauty in that.

Happy Mother’s Day from Ellyn Amalia Designs ✨

There’s been a lot of conversation lately about using ChatGPT instead of hiring a brand designer…so we decided to test it!

We took a real client design brief and had ChatGPT generate a response. And here’s the truth:

AI can give you a starting point. It can generate ideas, directions, even visuals. But it cannot think like a designer. When you rely on AI alone for something like a logo or brand identity, you’re likely going to run into inconsistencies. Your visuals won’t fully align across platforms, your brand won’t feel cohesive, and you won’t receive the full range of file types you actually need to use your logo properly in the real world.

Brand identity design isn’t just about making something look good. It’s about strategy, intention, collaboration and creating a system that works everywhere your business shows up.

So if you’re wondering if we’re afraid of AI taking over our jobs. The answer is simply no. Absolutely not.

What we do as designers goes far beyond generating ideas. It’s the thinking, the collaboration, the ability to listen, interpret, and create something truly unique for each client. AI can’t replace our amazing and talented team of designers who studied design for years to get to where we are.

Now, can ChatGPT be helpful? Absolutely. It’s a great place to start if you’re exploring ideas or trying to get clarity. But if you want a brand that actually works, grows with you, and represents your business well…hire a designer!

From the bottom of our hearts, please invest in that process. I promise you it will also save you money and time in the long run.

And for those of you who aren’t quite ready for a full brand identity package, we see you. We’re currently working on coaching offers for business owners who want to DIY their brand with the right support and guidance along the way. Something more accessible, but still rooted in strategy and intention.

We’re really excited to share more about that soon!

✨ This is what building a brand with our team of women actually looks like. ✨

It’s sitting down with our clients, asking the right questions, mapping out the problem and creating a creative strategy to solve it. Then, it’s sketching ideas, collaborating and designing meaningful solutions for our clients.

Most women, families and nonprofits we work with don’t lack ambition, they lack clarity. And that’s where everything shifts.

At Ellyn Amalia Designs, you’re not just working with one person…you’re supported by a team of designer women who genuinely care about bringing your vision to life.

We’re starting to book May projects, and would love to be part of what you’re building!

As the season shifts and we head into May, you may notice your ideas starting to flow more naturally. If you’re feeling that pull to finally take action and make changes that help you attract the clients you want to serve, send us a DM to schedule an initial consultation and get started.

✨ I’m in my building a business while raising babies era ✨

Yesterday looked like this. Half the day with her dad, half the day with me at the design studio. It was messy. Chaotic. And also super sweet.

She was a little tornado playing so hard and then BOOM…passed out on me for almost 2 hours. Somehow, in the middle of it all, work still got done.

One of our in house designers, Sydnee, snapped this photo of me on her way out of the studio last night at closing time.

This season of motherhood isn’t polished. But it’s real. And it’s the reality of running a design studio while raising a tiny human who needs me.

You’re not struggling because you need more marketing. You’re struggling because there’s no strategy behind it.

A current client sent me this photo of a wall she was standing by in a local cafe and said,
“Why do people think this is effective marketing? Can you even find the door behind all these flyers? Because she’s in there! 🤷🏽‍♀️”

And you know what? She’s right!

So many businesses are spending their time, energy, and money on things that just get lost. Hoping more visibility will somehow equal better results.

But more noise doesn’t mean more impact.

Our client couldn’t be more right when she said, “If only folks realized their time, mileage, and attention are valuable enough to warrant, paying somebody else to do your marketing!!”

If your marketing is putting something on a wall and hoping it sticks or is blending in, it’s not working. Design and brand strategy is what makes you stand out.

There are projects…and then there are heart projects. 🤍

This has been the largest and most meaningful project we’ve taken on to date.

After my daughter was born early, I experienced a level of postpartum anxiety I wasn’t prepared for. As a client of WellMama, I was supported in a way that truly changed everything for me. Honestly, I don’t know if I would be back in business today without them.

So when I was ready to return to work, I reached out, not just as a designer, but as someone deeply grateful, to see how I could support them.

What started as a website conversation quickly evolved into something bigger.

Together, we built a 3-phase plan:
• Brand photography and videography to tell their story
• Brand identity and creative direction
• A fully redesigned website experience

When we presented the brand direction, we received this note from a board member, and it meant everything. Knowing they loved it just as much as we did was one of those full-circle moments you don’t forget. 🤍

Now we’re in the final stretch, bringing it all to life behind the scenes, and we cannot wait to share it with you.

This one means everything.✨
