It all started in the fall of 2008 with an Environmental Stewardship Program that was launched in all of the dorms on the UNT. The mission is to guide resident students into sustainable lifestyles. The plan is to integrate environmental stewardship into residence culture through education, outreach and practice. It is an exciting mentorship program that promotes sustainability, leadership, plannin
g skills, and making connections that will last a lifetime. Students are becoming aware of the benefits of being eco-friendly, and how it applies to college students especially. Lowering the environmental impact of residence hall life not only saves the planet, but the university money, which in turn saves students money. Information on what it means to be sustainable, as well as tips on recycling and reducing are presented in each of the dorms through posters and programs. Students who engage in "Going Green" will receive several sustainable goodies that serve as reminders for what they can do in the world. Every bit of awareness that leads to action is helping to save our planet. What better place to GoGreen than North Texas?
