🎉 Congratulations to Annabelle Fries! 🎉

We’re excited to share that Annabelle Fries, a second-year graduate student in the Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology track of UMD’s Master of Arts in Psychological Science (MAPS) program, has received the J. Frank Yates Memorial Student Travel Award to attend the Society of Judgment and Decision Making conference this November! 👏

Annabelle will present research alongside Dr. Alexandra Luong on their project, “Effects of Leader AI-Gen Emails on Subordinate Judgments and Emotions.”

As AI-generated communication becomes increasingly common in the workplace, their research explores how employees respond when leaders use AI to communicate emotionally charged news, such as layoffs. The study examines how AI use, leader gender, and emotional expressiveness may shape employees’ judgments and emotional reactions.

Congratulations, Annabelle, on this well-deserved recognition! We’re proud to see UMD Psychology graduate students contributing to important conversations about AI and the future of work. 🧠🤖
