Chris Zec is a Long Island-based photographer specializing in serene land and seascapes with compositions ranging from realistic to abstract to minimalist. Photography that began as a means of personal retreat from the rigors of business ownership and raising eight children quickly ignited a passion to find and preserve fleeting moments of intrinsic stillness and beauty. His desire in offering his
work to the public is to infuse our harried world, whether private or corporate, with the gift of these unearthed gems of serenity and peace. As the wrapping is removed from almost a decade of work, this vision is currently being fulfilled in homes, public venues, galleries and multiple businesses across New York including SUNY Maritime College and the distinguished RXR Plaza of Uniondale. Chris holds a BS in Geology from the University of Stony Brook. A deep love for nature and all it represents is evident in his work whether capturing panoramic grandeur or simply reframing the mundane. The hours spent behind the lens are, for him, both renewing and fulfilling. As part of his ongoing education, Chris feeds on the stylistic inspiration and technical direction of some of the great names in nature photography--- Guy Tal, Tim Fitzharris, John Shaw and Alain Briot, to name a few. He thanks them for their publically shared expertise, in both knowledge of equipment and artistic rendering, which have been an invaluable part of the maturing of Chris’ own perspective and development. Chris Zec Photography is comprised of the brother and sister team of Chris Zec and Sonia Wheeler. After long admiring Chris’ beautiful images and desiring to share them with others, Sonia asked permission to begin making Chris’ photography public. Together they now research venues, choose new images for release, and prepare Chris’ works for patrons.
