Your voice matters. Your history matters. Your community matters. ✊🏽⛏️📚

Movimiento ChucanX is more than a student organization; it’s a space to learn, connect, create, and engage with our community.

Come make new likeminded friends, bring your ideas, learn from our history, and find meaningful ways to get involved beyond the classroom.

Nuestra historia. Nuestra voz. Nuestro futuro.

Our faculty sponsor, Prof. Ruby Montana will be hosting this Discussion with one of her greatest influences growing up: fronteriza icon, trailblazer and living legend, Rosa Guerrero!
If you don’t know who Mrs. Guerrero is, come and learn and most importantly— BE INSPIRED!!!
Peep the Slides for some rare pics of when Prof. Montana used to dance in Mrs. Guerrero’s International Ballet Folklorico! Fun fact: They were the very first folklorico to ever perform at the renowned Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.
Bring a friend and hope to see you there!!!

Yesterday our President Andrea Galeano had her first solo presentation “Resistance in Existence” at the El Paso Mexican American Cultural Center. She gave a fascinating lecture on the life stories and historical context of early 20th century fronteriza revolutionary women, Carmelita Torres and Teresita Urrea. She then “transformed” into their ghosts to tell their life stories from their unique perspectives. Andrea captivated the audience and wowed attendees with her passionate words and her impressive encyclopedic knowledge!
To say that we are all proud of her doesn’t begin to describe our awe. Andrea is a superstar in the making and we’re honored to have her as our President.
Special thanks to THE Eduardo Díaz for inviting us for a celebration in her honor at his beautiful home afterwards! 💗✊🏽

We had a blast at today’s “Pillars of Resistance” Chicano/a Celebration!!! So many beautiful symbols of our cultura: folklorico and Azteca dancers, lowriders, Zoot Suiters and more! If you couldn’t join, you can see the murals on the pillars anytime at El Paso’s Lincoln-El Paso Chicano Park! ✊🏽❤️🇲🇽🇺🇸
Shout-out to our own PoloTeo Medina for manning the UTEP Chicana/o Studies table all day! Check out the videos in our comments!

We are SO proud to share that our Movimiento ChucanX President Andrea Galeano will be the feature speaker and performer at the next Conocimiento Xicanx at the El Paso Mexican American Cultural Center! She will give her profoundly powerful speech in character as Carmelita Torres, the 17 year old Juarense maid who started the Bath Riots in protest of Mexicans being stripped n**e, forced to bathe in highly potent chemicals, and having their clothes deloused with Zyklon B. And for the first time, she’ll also be performing as frontera curandera extraordinaire, Teresita Urrea. If you’ve never heard of this mystic fronteriza, now’s the time to come learn!
You don’t want to miss this! Bring a friend and see you there!
