You’re language learning journey doesn’t have to end at Elon! Today, we’re highlighting Lindsey Maldari (.listix) who graduated from Elon in 2019. At Elon, she majored in Art History and Political Science and minored in Italian Studies, WGS Studies, and Classical Studies.

Lindsey is currently a PhD student at Duke University.

Welcome back from break! This Wednesday, we’re highlighting “Mekureme:cʰen.”

The word has come to be known as “welcome” in the Yesa:sahį́ language of the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation Tribe. Its original meaning, “nailbiter,” comes from a time of stress experienced by Native American children in a colonial school in the early 1700s.

Last week, students joined Italian studies professor Dr. Essary in playing video games. Whether they were exploring narrative games with Italian dialogue or simply navigating Italian game menus, it was an engaging way for our students to explore language!
