🩺Employee Spotlight: April Cavin has served as the High School Dual Enrollment Patient Care Technician Instructor and Practical Nursing Instructor at the CLTCC Ferriday Campus since 2011. Her natural instinct to prioritize others' needs and ensure they feel valued makes her an exceptional instructor. In the clinical field, this empathy allows her to deliver deeply compassionate, patient-centered care. Meanwhile, her active support for her kids in sports and 4-H livestock shows highlights her strength as a mentor who knows how to guide others through intense preparation, competition, and personal growth. By bringing this sideline-coaching and hands-on mentorship into the classroom, April excels as an instructor - inherently knowing how to champion her students, build their confidence, and provide the structured encouragement they need to succeed as future healthcare professionals.
For April, the most exciting part of her job is "helping students grow in confidence and skill as they prepare for careers in healthcare." April also adds that she's "especially excited to be part of a college that's right here in our community, giving opportunities to students who may be balancing families, jobs, and other responsibilities just like I did. Being local makes education more accessible and achievable for so many people."
We are to have you on campus, April!
