As we head into graduation weekend, we want to take a moment and thank our terrific graduate assistants for their hard work and dedication given to not only the Marching Chiefs, but to the entire band program and the College of Music here at FSU. The next GTA we’d like to recognize is Austin Pelella. With us, he has been the instructor for the .

Dr. Austin Pelella has completed his DM in Percussion Performance. His dissertation is on the American Rope Drum— Past, Present, and Future: A Historical Survey of Performance Practice and Pedagogy. He received a Bachelor of Music Education degree and a Master of Music in Percussion Performance degree from FSU in 2013 and 2023.

Congratulations and thanks for all you do, Dr. Pelella. You are loved and appreciated.

As we head into graduation weekend, we want to take a moment and thank our terrific graduate assistants for their hard work and dedication given to not only the Marching Chiefs, but to the entire band program and the College of Music here at FSU. The next GTA we’d like to recognize is Aaron Ovsiew.

Aaron is graduating this weekend with his Master of Music in Wind Band Conducting degree. He also holds degrees from the University of Connecticut, completing a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree in 2017, and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction degree in 2018.

We are thrilled that Aaron has decided to remain at FSU to pursue a Ph.D. in Music Education with an emphasis in Wind Band Conducting. We are looking forward to working with him the next three years. Congratulations, Aaron.

As we head into graduation weekend, we want to take a moment and thank our terrific outgoing graduate assistants for their hard work and dedication given to not only the Marching Chiefs, but to the entire band program and the College of Music here at FSU. The next GTA we’d like to recognize is Drew Hardy-Moore.

Dr. Drew Hardy-Moore has completed a Ph.D. in Music Education with an Emphasis in Wind Band Conducting. His dissertation is a comparative analysis of conductor’s tempi in Dionysiaques by Florent Schmitt. He received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Tennessee Technological University in 2017 and a Master of Music in Wind Conducting degree from FSU in 2023.

We love and appreciate you and wish you the very best as you move onto the next chapter of your career.

Dr. Collin Clark has completed a Ph.D. in Music Education with an emphasis in Wind Band Conducting. His dissertation in on School and Music Program Demographics as Predictors of Music Enrollment and Persistence . He received a Bachelor of Music Education degree and a Master of Music Education degree from FSU in 2018 and 2023.

As we head into graduation weekend, we want to take a moment and thank our terrific outgoing graduate assistants for their hard work and dedication given to not only the Marching Chiefs, but to the entire band program and the College of Music here at FSU. The first GTA we’d like to recognize is Andy Dubbert.

Dr. Andy Dubbert is graduating with a Ph.D. in Music Education with an Emphasis in Wind Band Conducting. His dissertation is on the effects of expressive movement on acoustical and perceptual aspects of musical performance. He received a Bachelor of Music Education degree and a Master of Music Education degree from FSU in 2013 and 2023.
