Student Spotlight!

Major Chaney D. Brooks is a 2024 School of Business MBA graduate from the University of Kansas at Leavenworth. She is an Army Officer currently assigned as a student at the Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, KS. Her Army journey began in 2011 as an enlisted Soldier in the U.S Army Signal Corps (Reserves) and subsequent commissioning as a Field Artillery Officer in 2014. As a 2015 graduate of the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leadership Course, Chaney was amongst the first women allowed to serve in combat roles for any military branch at the time.

Her second stop after visiting the housing office was to the post Education Center where she met with the KU program director who introduced her to the University of Kansas experience. To her surprise KU offered satellite courses at Fort Leavenworth which proved to be not only be the best choice for higher education in Kansas but also a canon life experience. Many of the course assignments were instrumental to Chaney’s integration into the Command and General Staff College in 2025 and many of the personal connections made were priceless.

Light the lamp of knowledge! We welcome the 2025-26 CGSC class to Fort Leavenworth.

Officers attending CGSC and completing ILE core can receive a 6-9 credit reduction towards a KU Master degree.

We had a wonderful evening at our new student reception welcoming our newest cohort of KU Leavenworth students and their families! They were welcomed by local Leavenworth leadership, State leadership, and KU faculty and staff and Army Command and General Staff College leaders. We also had a special guest- Baby Jay!
