Frostburg State University Planetarium

Frostburg State University Planetarium Planetarium shows and other educational programs in Western MD. It features a full-dome theater and state-of-the-art digital projection system.

The Multi-media Learning Center (MLC) serves the FSU community as well as Western MD and surrounding residents. Planetarium shows and campus events are held at the MLC on a regular basis. FSU faculty and staff are encouraged to use the MLC for their courses and events. Interested faculty and staff can contact us to reserve the MLC, and learn more about how to use it. The public can contact us for more information, or to book a private show.

It's official! We're making Frostburg State a regional destination for STEM education.

Unfortunately, the weather isn’t cooperating for tonight’s star party, so we’re cancelling the event.

If the skies do clear, I encourage you to head outside and try to catch a glimpse of the Perseid meteor shower. The radiant will be in the northeast during the early evening, rising higher throughout the night, and moving toward the northwest by early morning. You don’t need to look directly at the radiant, though. Meteors can appear anywhere across the sky.

Stay tuned for future events! We’re looking into holding a star party in September, and we plan to have solar telescopes at the Appalachian Festival.

Our next Science Saturday is August 22. We’ll be posting more information about that soon.
