Last night, we were honored to welcome Sgt. Andrew “Tim” Kiniry, who shared his story with over 100 members of our community. The audience was deeply engaged in his powerful and detailed testimony. As a 45th Evacuation Hospital Combat Medic, Sgt. Kiniry served in the Battle of the Bulge, crossed the Rhine River into Germany in April 1945, and was then sent to Buchenwald, where he spent ten days treating victims and confronting the true horrors of the Holocaust.
During the program, Sgt. Kiniry was presented with a gift from Commander Martin Ross of the Garr-Greenstein Friedenberg Jewish War Veterans Post 39, making him an honorary Jewish War Veteran. Sgt. Kiniry also received an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree at Stockton’s 2025 Commencement.
We are especially grateful to Doug Cervi, adjunct faculty at Stockton University and instructor of The Impact of the Holocaust, for making Sgt. Kiniry’s visit possible and for bringing his students to hear this powerful testimony firsthand.
If you were unable to join us last night, you will have another opportunity to hear Sgt. Kiniry share his testimony in a more intimate setting on May 13, 2026, from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM (with a break for lunch at 1:00 PM) at the Millville Army Air Field Museum.
We also thank our cosponsors: Stockton’s Minors in Holocaust and Genocide Studies and Jewish Studies, the university’s High School Dual Credit in Holocaust and Genocide Studies Program, the Board of Jewish Education of Atlantic and Cape May Counties, and the Jewish Federation of Atlantic and Cape May Counties.
