Galveston Alphas - Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity Inc. Alpha Phi Alpha (ΑΦΑ) is the first African American, inter-collegiate Greek-lettered fraternity found. is based in Galveston, Texas.

The Gamma Pi Lambda chapter of Alpha was chartered in 1942 and is seated on Galveston Island, Texas. Founded on Tuesday, January 20, 1942, the Gamma Pi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity Inc. For more 70 years, we have been focused on our Aims: Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All Mankind.

Today, September 8, 2026 marks the 126th anniversary of the 1900 Storm. This 1900 Hurricane that hit Galveston remains the deadliest natural disaster in the United States, where upwards of 8,000 citizens died.

The Galveston Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha remains ever-vigilant to climate and climate change, with advocacy for safety among environmentally disadvantaged groups.
