Study the works of Luis Valdez! Don’t miss your chance to learn about Mexican-American teatro!

THEA 3: El Teatro Campesino

• Hybrid class with online content that traces the historical and cultural influences of the El Teatro Campesino theatrical company from its creation in 1965 to the present.

• Reading, viewing and discussing the development of the Chicano (Mexican American) culture in American Society reflected in the works of play wright and director Luis Valdez and El Teatro Campesino (The Farm Worker's Theatre), are the focus of this course.

• Students will read works by writers, hear plays read by actors and view live theatrical productions, films and videos produced by El Teatro Campesino in this class.

• 3-unit course has the option for a letter grade or pass/no pass.

• Taught by instructor Mary Isabel Cruz.

• THEA 3 is transferable to both California State Universities and University of California schools.

Need help with the cost of textbooks? ASGC is accepting applications for a Textbook Scholarship of up to $200 to help students offset textbook costs and support their educational goals.

To be eligible, students must be enrolled in at least two academic units, have a 2.5+ GPA (non-credit ESL students are exempt), and have paid tuition + the Student Activities Fee in full.
