๐Ÿฅ’ Learn the art of pickling at the library!

Join us for Food Preservation: Pickling on Friday, June 12, from 12:00โ€“1:00 PM in the American Veterans Auditorium.

William Kirby, Food Systems and Safety Agent with the Clemson Cooperative Extension, will discuss different methods of pickling foods, including the pros and cons of each approach. The program will also feature demonstrations of a couple of local favorite pickling methods.

Tickets are still available for the 5th Annual Festival of Flowers Symposium on June 5th. The keynote speaker is Brandon Huber, a specialist in controlled environment agriculture, and his passion for collecting unusual plants is sure to inspire you. The regular sessions will include topics like invasive plants, lawn alternatives, orchids and their companions, and common landscape trees. To finish the day, participants can choose from workshops on either plant propagation or plant problem identification.

๐Ÿฅ•Farmer's Market Senior Voucher distribution will be on Wednesday, June 3, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and on Thursday, June 4, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Seniors, don't miss this opportunity to receive $50 in vouchers for the Farmer's Market.

๐Ÿ… Eligible participants will receive $50 through five checks ($10 each). To qualify, Greenwood County residents must be age 60 or older, meet income requirements, report their household size, and have a legal form of identification.

๐Ÿ‰ Drive-thru voucher pick-up will be available at the Farmer's Market, 250 Wilbanks Circle. Please enter Wilbanks Circle from Hwy 72/221. Vouchers are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Distribution may end early if all vouchers are given out before the scheduled end time.

Applications are open for the 2026 Learn to Farm Classroom Mini-Grants! This program provides funding to support classroom project that enhance students' understanding of agriculture, farming and food systems.

This year, the SCFB Young Farmers and Ranchers are expanding the program to offer two $500 mini-grants per SC Farm Bureau district. That means we'll award eight mini-grants across the state!
