"Harrisburg to HBCUs" (formerly "Harrisburg to Howard" ) is a program started in the spring of 2017 founded by Howard University student Raheem Martin, and co-coordinated by fellow students from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

To the people who already reached out we have you accounted for: Thank you! We are waiting to get a minimum of 20-25 volunteers so this can be more feasible.

We’ll be sharing a survey soon to collect contact information, a list of skills, availability for a Kickoff Call, and availability for volunteering.

Before the end of 2026, we want to relaunch Harrisburg to HBCUs with the following goals for the year:

1. Get an executive and advisory board.

2. Get 501c3 certified as a nonprofit organization.

3. Collect Alumni data for grants and reporting.

Depending on the timeline and success of these goals, we plan to complete the following:

4. Host an alumni, leadership, previous as well as new donor, and new/interested student luncheon/brunch in Winter 2026.

5. Organize then Launch Application for a 1 or 2-day local HBCU bus tour for Spring 2027 (December 2026)

If you’re interested in being involved as a volunteer to help complete any of these tasks, serve as an executive/advisory board member, become a DONOR, or know Harrisburg AREA high school students who will be sophomores, juniors, or seniors and would be interested in this opportunity, please let us know by commenting, direct messaging the page, or emailing [email protected]
