Next, let’s meet our Fundraising Coordinator! 🐑

Hello! I'm Amanda Hoffman and the Fundraising Coordinator for Food Animal Club. I am in the class of 2028 Silver and from Cleveland, Ohio. I received my bachelor's from the Ohio State University with a major of animal science and a minor in biosciences. Currently, I hope to practice mixed animal medicine. My fiancé and I have two dogs, named Hades and Bash, a guinea pig, named Maxine, and a cat named Charlie.

Hey y’all, my name is Tyson Olson, and I am the 2028 Silver class representative. I grew up on my family farm in western Minnesota where we raise red angus cattle. I was given the opportunity to raise my own poultry, pigs, goats and cattle. I became very involved in 4-H and FFA, showing a variety of species. I went to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln earning a degree in animal science. After graduation, I plan to work in a rural community as a mixed animal veterinarian.

Hey all— My name is Nathan Schank and I am the 2027 Silver class representative and the AABP student representative! I grew up on the family farm in Fallon, Nevada and spent most of my childhood following my veterinarian dad around the local dairies. I graduated with a degree in biochemistry from BYU and a master’s in pharmaceutical chemistry from UF before coming out to LMU. My goal is to complete an internship and residency in large animal internal medicine and help fill the gap in that field!

The spring semester is in full swing, so let’s finish up meeting our team. Starting off with our Treasurer & Class of 2026 Rep! 🐮

Hey y’all, my name is Hannah Bonnema, and I am a third-year vet student at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN. I grew up in a rural town in Southwest Virginia where agriculture and farming are a way of life. I was introduced to livestock at an early age and my interest and passion for this lifestyle only grew as I reached adulthood. During college, I had the opportunity to work at a registered Angus cattle operation. This operation held around two hundred head of Black Angus cattle. This operation tailored their approach to producing quality genetics with results in top performing cattle. Much of the herd consisted of mother cows, with the rest being replacement heifers, herd bulls, and at least ten being show quality. My experience working at this operation as well as my upbringing solidified my desire to practice food animal medicine, focusing on bovine reproduction and to serve in a rural community after graduation.

Hello, I am Luke and I am from Bristol, VA. I went to Virginia Tech for my undergrad, where I worked with dairy cows for years. Currently, I have a herd of Miniature Fainting goats and four Red Wattle pigs on my family farm. I am excited to be in the position of Secretary for the Food Animal Club and get to know its members.

Hey yall, I’m Hannah Hurdle and I’m in the class of 2027 Silver! I am the Vice President Elect, under the current VP Taylor for the year! I grew up in Lamar, Mississippi on a small family farm. Through undergrad I played softball and basketball while studying biology, chemistry, and nutrition.
My career aspirations include being a mixed animal practitioner focusing on food animals, mainly beef cattle! I plan to work in Theriogenology and nutrition for all food animals. I am excited to be serving the food animal club and for such a fun year!

My name is Rachel Smith, and I grew up on a purebred Simmental operation in Bland, Virginia. I showed cattle and judged livestock nationwide through 4-H and FFA. I plan to be a large animal veterinarian in Southwest VA. Eventually, my goal is to be an embryologist, as my interest is reproduction. My husband, Luke, and I raise Simmentals and own Rockin R&L Cattle Co.

Hi! My name is Taylor Leander and I am from south Florida! I graduated with my bachelors degree in animal science with a speciality in animal biology from the University of Florida, go Gators!! I am in the class of 2026 here at LMU! My main interest is in ruminants as a whole and LA surgery! My goal is to return to Florida after school and work as a mixed animal practitioner with a main focus on cattle, sheep and goats! I have a German Shorthair Pointer named Kennedi that is my whole world! In my free time I love to run with her and just recently we have hit 1000 miles running together this year! I’m so excited to serve as the vice president this year and make it such a fun filled year!
