2015 Homecoming Marching Band Parade
Performers, dancers, community groups, and corporate groups from all ethnic backgrounds are invited to showcase their culture for the 2015 Homecoming Marching Band Parade on Friday, January 30, 2015 at California State University—East Bay, Hayward Hills
Campus, CA. Homecoming Marching Band Parade is started as an electric cart parade across campus through 2005. The main participates are usually including the Hayward High School Farmers Marching Band, CSUEB pep band, and over 20 student clubs organizations and departments. The campus parade route starts between noon and 12:20pm and begins from the Lot D located in Harder Rd, then passes through the Grand Stand on Old Hillary Rd, East Loop Rd, and finally arrives the Street Side PE on the West Loop Rd. Costume participants are judged on five categories: Craftsmanship; Creativity, Visual Impact, Presentation; and Choreography. To participate in the parade, groups can register by completing an application before the deadline. Deadline:

Registration Fees are as follows:
Marching Band Costume Competing Band:
Registration fee per campus department $200
Registration fee per student clubs & organizations $150
Non-competing Bands and Political Groups:
Corporate/Large Organization - $300.00
Non-profit small agency with 501-c-3 certification – $50
Floats and non-competing groups- $100.00
Political groups (including floats or trucks) - $100.00
Steel Bands- No Charge
2014 Costume Prizes
All categories will be judged using the same criteria outlined in this application. Marching Band Costume Competing Band:
Campus Department:
• First Prize : $800 and Trophy
• Second Prize: $500 and Trophy
• Third Prize: $300 and Trophy (only if bands are competing)
Student Clubs & organization:
• First Prize : $500 and Trophy
• Second Prize: $400 and Trophy
• Third Prize: $300 and Trophy (only if bands are competing)
RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR THE PROCESSION:
1. All bands/bandleaders must arrive on Lot D between 9:00 am and 10:00 am.
2. The parade must begin at 12:00 noon and will leave Lot D on to Grand Stop on to Old Hillary Rd and onto West Loop Rd into Street Side PE.
3. Trucks can park overnight on Lot D so to reduce delays on the Parade Day. Please notify CSUEB Parking staff if you need to park overnight.
4. All trucks must exit on West Loop Rd at the end of the parade. Masqueraders cannot follow the trucks when they are leaving the parade route.
5. No trucks will be allowed to remain after the parade.
6. Each group will be allowed up to 12 minutes total for performing at the judging stand, depending on the size of the band. CSUEB Pioneers Committee has the authority to extend or reduce the performance time upon discretion.
7. There will be a drawing to determine the order in which the bands will depart Lot D and there will be no changing of the order by Band Leaders. This drawing may be done before the day of Carnival and Band Leaders must send a representative to the drawing. Failure to comply with the results of the draw may result in disqualification from the competition.
8. Competing groups who are not ready for the procession in the order of their draw will lose 15 points.
9. Bands/bandleaders that is not ready to march by 12:30pm or arrive after 12:30pm will be eliminated from the competition.
10. All DJs must turn their music off BEFORE and AFTER they leave the parade route or their costume band will be disqualified.
11. DJ’s must adjust sound levels of music if asked to do so by Pioneer Committee or CSUEB related staff the truck will be removed.
12. All participation fees must be paid in advance or the group will not be able to participate in the parade.
13. Failure to comply with any of the above rules of procession will lose 10 points.
