117 days of ʻaha. 117 days of learning. 117 days of holding UH admin accountable and reminding them who they have responsibility to. 117 days of non-stop fighting for Mauna Kea. 117 days of cultivating a kīpuka of aloha ʻāina. 117 days of building relationships, community, ʻohana. Mahalo to all of you for all of your support along the way.

Cheers erupted Friday evening at Bachman Hall as its doors are locked for the weekend, but this time the kia‘i (protectors) are on the outside of that door.

300 ʻaha, 3 meetings with the president, 1 meeting with BOR leadership, 4 weekends locked inside of Bachman Hall, 100 days of healing with fellow haumāna brought together by the mana of Mauna a Wākea. Mahalo nui to all of our ʻohana who have supported and guided us throughout this process. We are forever humbled and thankful to be a part of this movement.

He ʻaʻaliʻi kū makani, ʻaʻohe makani e hina ai🍃 After 93 days of waiting to meet with UH’s BOR leadership, yesterday we came together in discussion with Chair B. Kudo and Vice Chair J. Sullivan. Here are the two main takeaways that we would like to share with our ʻohana who have been following us on our journey. 1: UH leadership has affirmed that they have full power and jurisdiction to cancel the TMT sublease. They have chosen not to because of their concern that the astronomy department will lose research support along with other possible financial repercussions. 2: The BOR has resolved to investigate third party land managers (or other restructuring) for Mauna a Wākea, and recommendations will be presented to the board by April 2020. Haumāna are still decompressing and processing the events from the meeting. To reground ourselves in ea and to celebrate our togetherness, tonight we will be prepping an imu for our Lā Kūʻokoʻa lunch tomorrow. If any ʻohana are in the area or would like to join us in our holidays, please come with aloha and maybe a plate to share🏔⛅️ Kū Kiaʻi Mauna @ University of Hawaii at Manoa
