Dr. Michael A. Milton was unanimously elected
the next Chancellor/CEO of Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) on September 2, 1010 by Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of RTS. This time begins a period of Chancellor Succession with Dr. Milton serving as Chancellor/CEO Elect with the outgoing Chancellor and CEO, Dr. Ric Cannada. Over the coming months, Drs. Milton and Cannada will provide joint leadership for the seminary until June 1, 2012. At that time, the RTS Succession Plan calls for Dr. Cannada to become the Chancellor Emeritus and Dr. Milton will succeed him. Dr. Milton will remain in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Michael Milton accepted the call to become the President and Professor of Practical Theology of Reformed Theological Seminary, Charlotte on November 1, 2007, after serving as 12th Senior Pastor of the historic First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Prior to that, Milton founded two churches (in Kansas and Georgia) and a Christian school (Westminster Academy in Overland Park, KS). In 2009, Dr. Milton was also appointed the James M. Professor of Pastoral Theology. He has also served as the Interim President of RTS Orlando from 2009-2010 and is founding director of the Chaplain Ministries Institute in Charlotte. Michael Milton is host and speaker on Faith for Living: An Outreach Ministry of Michael Milton and Reformed Theological Seminary. Faith for Living can be heard every Monday at 0730 EST on DIRECT TV, Channel 378, and 24/7 at http://www.faithforlivingtv.com. Faith for Living is also heard on radio on select stations in the United States. Dr. Milton’s personal story of moving from orphan and prodigal son to understanding God’s grace and receiving his adoption through Jesus Christ, forms a motif for offering Christ’s healing to a broken generation. His sermons are often illustrated with songs that he composes, sings, and performs with guitar. Through the Open Door is his third CD, released in 2011 with Bethesda/Music for Missions. His second recording, Follow Your Call, was released in 2006, following his debut album, He Shall Restore. All are distributed through iTunes. He is the author of several books, including Songs in the Night: How God Transforms our Pain into Praise (P & R Publishing, 2011) and Small Things, Big Things: Inspiring Stories of God's Grace (P & R Publishing, 2009). His testimony was published as a book entitled, What God Starts, God Completes (Christian Focus, 2008, 2nd ed.). In addition to his pastoral work, Dr. Milton holds a commission in the U.S. Army Reserves as a chaplain and was elected in 2010 by the Chief of Chaplains, to the College of Military Preachers and appointed an instructor at the Armed Forces Chaplain School. Dr. Milton resides with his wife, Mae, and son in the Charlotte area where they enjoy gardening, exploring historical sites, and listening to all kinds of music.
