Safe to say, the first B Corp Built Environment workshop was a success! Immense gratitude to all of the participants and speakers! We’ll be sharing learnings soon, but for now it’s clear there’s more to come!

We’re almost there! If you haven’t already heard, we’re hosting a B Corp for the Built Environment Workshop next Friday, September 13, from 9 to 5 pm. 

It’s going to be a full day of learning about community planning projects in the Hudson Valley, ways to get involved as a business owner, identifying whether your business qualifies for B Corp certification and much more.

According to NYCEDC’s March 2024 Circular Construction Guidelines, “building materials represent 70% of embodied carbon emissions in the built environment and construction and demolition debris makes up over 60% of the city’s entire solid waste stream” in New York City alone. 

With deconstruction policies like Senate Bill S8614 in process, we’re working with businesses in the built environment to ensure proper standards and practices are in place before building, in turn making future deconstruction more circular!

Together, lets consciously choose to spend our time, money, and efforts doing things that align with our values on a daily basis.

“The B Corp community is an education in its own right. And the time I have spent in it has exposed me to some of the most incredible innovators who are redefining success in business to include all social and non-social stakeholders. Along my journey I have successfully certified a handful of B Corporations, earning ownership in two. I've taught 100+ hours in sustainability university and community curriculum. I've mentored countless businesses worldwide, convincing them to give back to their workers, their communities, the environment and their value chain.

But I must say I am consistently humbled by the new trends that quickly emerge, the new innovations and the technology waves of the future. Keeping up can be overwhelming, things can seem bleak, it can be easy to feel discouraged. But ultimately I believe everything boils down to one thing. You have to start somewhere. You can inspire change. Little actions add up. Follow your passions and immerse yourself in them. If sustainability is your passion (and I bet it is if you are reading this) a great place to start is by looking into the B Corporation certification. Going through the process will be the best free sustainability education you will ever have.”
