**Entry Deadline is Approaching**
Still considering consigning bulls? At the University of Wyoming High Altitude Bull Test, we strive to provide data relevant to beef producers running cattle in this evironment. In addition to PAP and BSE data, we provide feed efficiency data that can answer some key questions.

Which bulls make money on feed?

At the University of Wyoming High Altitude Bull Test, we strive to market bulls that will save you money on feed. Our Vytelle SENSE feed bunks allow us to test feed efficiency at a whole new level. We know as producers, feed costs are a major portion of your budget. In an industry where margins mean everything, we strive to market bulls that will put the most profit in your pocket.

⚠️ELEVATION WARNING-LOW OXYGEN⚠️

What is the PAP test?

A pulmonary arterial pressure, or PAP test provides a measure of the mean pressure in the pulmonary artery. To do this, a catheter is passed through the jugular vein into the right side of the heart, then further passed out of the heart into the pulmonary artery. A transducer connected to the catheter allows us to take a pressure reading, producing the PAP score.

Why PAP test at elevation?

PAP testing allows us to assess an animals risk for brisket disease, or, right sided heart failure caused by low oxygen. Here at the University of Wyoming, bulls are conditioned at 7,200 feet. Testing cattle where they experience the environmental challenge of reduced oxygen gives us a better opportunity to produce more accurate scores, identify animals that handle the altitude well, and identify those that don’t.

It is important to remember that PAP scores only predict an animals risk, and the system is not perfect. However, it is the best option for risk assessment.

Test where the challenge exists. Select for cattle that can thrive there. 🐂🏔️

At the UW High Altitude Bull Test, the value goes beyond the performance data. Consignors gain more than numbers—they gain a marketing platform.
- Professional photos and videos of their bulls
- Student-created marketing materials
- Exposure for their operation at the bull sale
- A platform to connect with buyers and build their customer base
We’re proud to give consignors the tools and exposure they need to showcase their bulls, tell their story, and grow their business.
Because a great bull deserves more than a set of numbers—it deserves to be seen.
