The Nebraska Youth Beef Leadership Leadership Symposium (NYBLS) is an educational and promotional program for high school students designed to increase awareness and the importance of value-added beef products and how they are developed. The Nebraska Youth Beef Leadership Symposium is an educational and promotional program designed to increase awareness and commitment of high school students to:

pursue careers in the beef industry,

pursue and complete an undergraduate education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln,

understand the importance of value-added beef products and how they are developed,

increase awareness and understanding of issues facing the beef industry in Nebraska and the U.S., and

enhance student communication and interpersonal skills, leadership and engagement in the beef industry.

NYBLS 2021 was a great success! We hosted 43 high school students from Nebraska, Arizona, Kansas, and Minnesota on campus November 19th - 21st. We had a tremendous group of youth and industry professionals for the youth to interact with throughout the weekend. Due to the current state of the COVID pandemic we will NOT be hosting NYBLS 2020. It was a tough decision, but because of the nature of the program and how closely students work together in groups we didn't feel we could follow social distancing guidelines and effectively deliver the program to its fullest potential. We plan to be back in 2021!
