PRSA Arkansas Chapter presents two awards, selected by the Past Presidents Council, to celebrate individuals who demonstrate excellence in public relations. They are reviewed and recipients are selected during a special meeting of the PRSA Arkansas Chapter’s PPC to be held immediately following the July chapter meeting.

Diamond Award: An external award presented to an individual who, in the opinion of the PPC, has
made significant contributions resulting in the enhancement of the image of Arkansas, and who has
performed outstanding service to the State in which the principles of public relations have played a major
part.

Crystal Award: An internal award presented to a member of the Arkansas Chapter of PRSA who, in the
opinion of the PPC, has made significant and continuous contributions to the public relations profession
over a period of years and/or career with special consideration to the nominee’s specific contributions to PRSA and to the Arkansas PRSA Chapter.

"Arkansas is entering its next golden age."

That was the bold prediction Rex Nelson of Arkansas Democrat-Gazette / ArkansasOnline.com shared with Arkansas PRSA members at our June chapter.

From Northwest Arkansas' innovation economy to steel manufacturing in the Delta, lithium development in South Arkansas, defense growth in Fort Smith and logistics expansion in Central Arkansas, Rex painted a picture of a state that is changing rapidly.

For communicators, that matters.

The stories we tell, the audiences we serve and the organizations we represent don't exist in a vacuum. Understanding the forces shaping Arkansas helps us become better storytellers, stronger strategic advisors and more effective communicators.

A sincere thank you to Rex for an engaging presentation and to everyone who joined us for another afternoon of learning, networking and great conversation.

It was a packed Friday afternoon of insight, strategy, and broadcast newsroom perspective!

Thank you to our incredible May chapter meeting panelists, Ernie Paulson of FOX16 News & KARK 4 News, J.D. Roberts of THV11, and Daniel Breen of Little Rock Public Radio for giving Arkansas PR professionals a behind-the-scenes look at the rapidly evolving media landscape.

From AI in the newsroom and effective pitching to why good news still matters, the conversation was thoughtful, honest, and full of valuable takeaways. Special thanks to moderator Shaelyn Sowers of Ghidotti Communications for leading such an engaging discussion.

We also appreciate Allyson Pittman Gattin, APR, of The Peacock Group, Anita Crow Smith, APR, of Garver, and Lora Mosley, APR, of The Communications Group, Inc for sharing expert advice during the Writing Winning Arkansas Prism Entries Workshop, held after the panelist discussion.
