Last week, several of our cadets travelled to Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro, NC to learn more about the mission of the 4th Fighter Wing and become more familiar with life on an active-duty Air Force installation. Cadets had the opportunity to shadow officers from different AFSCs, hear from 4th FW Vice Commander, Col Bofferding, visit the 336th Fighter Squadron, get up close to their F-15E Strike Eagles, and check out the weapons and ammo shop on the flight line. Cadets ended the day with a visit to the Phantom Lanes Bowling Center for unlimited bowling! Thanks 4th Fighter Wing for having us!

In honor of those who lost their lives and the first responders who answered the call of duty, Det 165 hosted a stair climbing event in remembrance of the responders who climbed in 2001. We ran up a total of 2200 steps (the height of the World Trade Center). Thank you to and for joining us. Always remember, Never Forget.

Detachment 165 was so honored to have been able to have Lieutenant General Armagno (USSF) join us again accompanied by her distinguished guests: Colonel Sheffield (USAF), Lieutenant Colonel Flowers (USSF), and 1st Lieutenant Jang (USSF). Thank you for joining us for an amazing PT to start our morning, an eventful GLP, and informative briefing about the Space Force. We hope to have you back again soon!

Detachment 165’s Cadets have been busy over the summer! C/Harrison Haley attended the Special Warfare Orientation Course (SWOC) at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO where he was introduced to some of the training required of Air Force Special Warfare/Battlefield Airmen. In addition, C/Haley served as a Cadet Training Assistant at Field Training this summer where he helped to shape the future of not only our detachment, but also AFROTC as a whole. C/Connor Skidmore assisted the Civil Air Patrol with one of their summer activities where he helped to mentor and encourage high school-age CAP cadets to pursue careers in military aviation, and explain to them the many avenues through which one can become a military aviator. As a token of appreciation for his assistance with the activity, the 49th Fighter Training Squadron at Columbus AFB offered C/Skidmore an incentive ride in a T-38 Talon during which he participated in a student training sortie and learned more about what life at Undergraduate Pilot Training is like.
