Last but certainly not least, our final goes out to our secretary and communications chair, Ismael Maclovio, who completed his internship at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in downtown Los Angeles. PwC ranks as one of the largest professional services firm in the world and is one of the Big Four accounting firms. As an Internal Firm Services Intern, Ismael utilized software like Alteryx and Tableau to perform data analytics and data visualizations for a non-profit organization which led him to deliver a presentation to one of the partners of the firm. Ismael gives us some insight on his experience, “I had the opportunity to shadow professionals in order to gain exposure on the different lines of service offered at the firm. The internship has assisted me with developing my skills as a working professional in a corporate environment and has exposed me to new software that allowed me to manipulate, analyze, and visualize data. I can’t be thankful enough to PwC for allowing me to learn so much and am excited to keep on expanding my skills throughout my professional career.” We are proud to say that our brother Ismael, has been extended a return offer with the firm next summer in 2020 as an Assurance External Audit Intern. The Gentlemen of Gamma Zeta Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Omicron Chapter would like to congratulate Luis Plascencia and Jorge Magdonal on receiving the 2019 GANAS scholarship. This organization was established to serve as a support system for latinos pursuing a higher education. Our organization promotes leadership, culture, and community service to help students grow and develop into the professionals of tomorrow. These two individuals demonstrated that they were academically driven and that they wanted to make a difference in the world upon graduating from Cal Poly. Thank you to the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and Summer Institute for allowing us to give back to our community. Congratulations gentlemen, from all of the brothers and alumni here at Omicron Chapter.

Our next goes out to none other than Fidel Marcial. Fidel has been interning at Virtual Engineering & Construction (VEC), a San Francisco based company, working as a VDC Technician. Here’s what our brother has to say, “It has been such a rewarding experience to put my knowledge to the test and learn more on implementing the latest technology in construction and engineering fields. Thus far I have assisted with BIM (Building Information Model) coordination, modeling analysis, and virtual 3D scanning. Learning to run clash detection, QA/QC of 3D models, creating construction layout sheets, registering point-clouds and using high definition scanners to capture architectural as-builts has been a few of the tasks I have been assigned and enjoy doing. I have had the chance to get hands on experience on various construction softwares such as Revit, Navisworks, and Cyclone. I am beyond thankful for these opportunities and hope to continue developing these skills throughout my career.” Go Gammas! Brothers up Fidel! #ΓΖΑ

But first, we’d like to shout out those brothers who are growing professionally with their summer internships. Starting off our this week goes out to Jorge González, who completed the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) internship this past April in Washington, D.C.. Being a Congressional Intern, “I was given the opportunity to intern in the office of Congressman Carbajal, learn from political leaders, and discuss the most important issues facing our nation.” Currently, Jorge is a Political, Advocacy and Government Intern at Univision Communications Inc. where he helped create an Advocacy campaign aimed at young Latinos in order for them to fill out the 2020 Census using Univision's platform in our community.
