Irish actors Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley have been nominated for Golden Globe awards for their performances as William Shakespeare and Agnes in Oscar winner Chloé Zhao’s adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s novel Hamnet.

Buckley is the strong favourite in her category and remains the frontrunner for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. Mescal, however, finds himself in what some consider a four-way contest with Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn, and Stellan Skarsgård – who is widely regarded as the current frontrunner.

While both actors have previously been nominated at the Academy Awards and at the British Academy Film Awards, today’s nominations mark their first at the Golden Globes.

This is one of the oldest surviving harps in Ireland and one of only three medieval Gaelic harps still in existence 😲😲

On display in Trinity College Dublin’s Long Room, the Trinity College harp—often called "Brian Boru’s harp"—is a masterpiece of medieval craftsmanship. This 14th or 15th-century wire-strung cláirseach is one of the three oldest surviving Gaelic harps, sharing this legacy with the Queen Mary and Lamont Harps.

While legends once linked it to Brian Boru, the High King of Ireland, historians now believe it was likely commissioned by an influential family of its time. Intricate design and skilled construction make it a treasure of Irish heritage.

The harp’s significance extends far beyond its strings—this very instrument inspired Ireland’s coat of arms, its image graces Irish coins, and even the Guinness logo. Yet, visitors are often surprised by its real, wide-bodied structure, a striking contrast to the slim versions seen on heraldry.
