In August of 2006, eight women came together with the idea of organizing a chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated that would target the needs of the Greater Hartford and Manchester areas. Since the inception of the chapter, numerous community service and educational programs have been organized in the Manchester and Greater Hartford areas. Chapter members have raised and donated thousands
of dollars in scholarships and hundred of hours for community service events. The women of the Phi Delta Zeta Chapter strive to maintain a level of excellence while promoting the sorority principles of Service, Scholarship, Sisterly Love and Finer Womanhood. The chapter currently sponsors two undergraduate chapters, NU Theta (University of Connecticut) and Theta Upsilon (University of New Haven)
