Celebrate Earth Day by helping restore and protect the natural beauty of Nonconnah Creek. During this hands-on event, you’ll work alongside fellow volunteers to plant native trees along the creek’s riverbanks and wetlands, supporting a healthier ecosystem, reducing erosion, and improving water quality for years to come.

Whether you’re passionate about environmental stewardship or simply looking for a meaningful way to spend your morning outdoors, this is a powerful opportunity to make a visible impact while connecting with others who care about the planet.

Volunteers should always come prepared for outdoor work: wear weather-appropriate clothes, closed-toe shoes, and sunscreen; bring water and consider a hat for sun protection.

📣TIGER BLUE GOES GREEN - SPONSOR HIGHLIGHT📣💙💚

We are so excited to have The Works, Inc join us as both a Sponsor and Exhibitor for the first time this year. Learn more about The Works below and make sure and stop by their exhibit at Tiger Blue Goes Green on October 7th at the Student Plaza from 10am-2pm!

The Works is a local nonprofit that specializes in developing and expanding access to affordable housing, as well as combating blight in Memphis' underserved neighborhoods. We work to steward our local environment by planting native gardens, recycling local trees into usable materials, and further enhancing workforce capacity for local food production. Our aim is to help rebuild strong relationships between people and our ecology and restore native landscapes to optimal health.
Regenerative Initiatives is a branch composed of three primary projects: Memphis Urban Wood - a zero-waste tree upcycling facility, Memphis Native Tree Works - a native plant/tree nursery and garden consultant and Works Urban Farms - a mid-scale urban farm and orchard. All these projects are built to contribute to a green, circular economy that keeps value local and reduces production of waste. The primary objectives of this branch are conservation of local lands, expanding access to nutritious foods, and building vital green infrastructure that will benefit generations to come.

Big NEWS!!! 📣 The University of Memphis is now COMPOSTING at the both the Tiger Den and the Student Wellness Center (Tiger Cafe and Tiger Food Lab.) We are so excited to be working with The Compost Fairy Memphis to divert our food waste from the landfill and put those much-needed nutrients back into our local soil. 🌱♻ Shout out to Dine At UofM, UofM Campus Recreation, and the Compost Fairy for making this happen! Stay tuned for more on our journey in preventing and diverting wasted food. 🐯💙💚
