Precision in progress

Meet Madison Smith, a student in our Manual Machining class, who recently completed a fully functional mill jack from start to finish. From measuring and cutting to drilling, threading, and assembling - every part of this piece was made by hand, using classic machining tools and techniques.

Projects like this aren’t just assignments; they’re real demonstrations of skill, problem-solving, and craftsmanship - the kind of experience that prepares students for high-demand careers in advanced manufacturing.

Heads Up!!!

Moore Tech will be closed from Wednesday, November 26 through Friday, November 28 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Offices will reopen and classes will resume on Monday, December 1.

Learning by doing.

Students took their welding skills to the next level by learning how to cut a bevel using a propane track torch—an essential technique for precision metalwork in the field.

At Moore Tech, hands-on experience isn’t just part of the curriculum — it is the curriculum.

Hands-on learning in action:

Our Industrial Electricity and Plant Maintenance (IEPM) students recently took on a real-world challenge in the machining shop - diagnosing and repairing a faulty connection beneath the concrete floor of the horizontal bandsaw.

They located the issue, excavated the area, made the repair, and then patched the concrete - start to finish.

A perfect example of the versatility required to succeed as a maintenance technician.

At Moore Tech, students train to solve problems, not just memorize them.

Future talent in the making

Earlier last month, we welcomed students from MSCS Southwest CTC for a campus tour led by Moore Tech staff — with two familiar faces in the group: Thomas Harvey, former Moore Tech Dual Enrollment instructor, and Moore Tech alumnus, David Bowman ’18. Both now serve as instructors at Southwest CTC and shared their firsthand experience of the Moore Tech journey with their students.

These high school students are already gaining hands-on experience in their fields and are now exploring the next step: real-world training and career pathways available beyond graduation.

At Moore Tech, we’re committed to strengthening the workforce pipeline — and it starts with opportunities just like this.

Pumpkin decorating… Moore Tech style.

Our students went all in this year—designing pumpkins that showcase their trades with skill, creativity, and hands-on talent.

#1: A five-faced pumpkin engineered by our Robotic Welding class - welded, cut, and assembled with precision.

#2: A scrap blower motor reimagined as a pumpkin by Mr. Richards’ Electricity for HVAC class. Innovation meets imagination.

#3: Meet “Emma” the pumpkin - craftily created by welding students in honor of their department head’s newborn daughter.

#4: A custom-etched, cut, and hand-painted pumpkin - designed and machined entirely by our Machining students.

#5: A hand-carved pumpkin representing the Welding trade, mounted on a custom-welded metal pedestal. A showstopper from top to bottom.

#6: A full “welder pumpkin” complete with a custom-built Lincoln Electric welder - crafted by welding students.

#7: A spooky welded pumpkin scene straight out of a horror film - featuring plasma cutting, precise bends, and detailed welds by Welding staff and students.

#8: A Frankenstein-inspired pumpkin assembled by our Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating students - bolts and all.

#9: Meet "Stitches" - a pumpkin powered by pneumatics for full mechanical motion, engineered by our Industrial Electricity and Plant Maintenance students and staff.

From machining to maintenance, welding to HVAC - our students prove that real skills and real creativity go hand in hand.
