🎃 Fall Fun & Family Connections! 🍂
On Saturday, October 4, ULM TRIO CCAMPIS hosted its annual Parent Event at Curry’s Farm Pumpkin Patch in Start, LA! 🌾 Families enjoyed a day of laughter, games, and pumpkin-picking while building lasting memories and meaningful connections. 💛
“This event is such a special opportunity for us,” shared one student-parent. “My daughter practiced her social and motor skills while playing with her school friends!”
We’re grateful to the U.S. Department of Education for supporting experiences that strengthen family bonds and empower student-parents. 💪

💔 A devastating blow to student parents across the country.

Today, I received news that many participants in the Child Care Access Means Parents In School (CCAMPIS) program—funded by the U.S. Department of Education—have received Non-Continuation letters, informing them that they will not receive funding for the upcoming year.
What’s especially troubling is that some of these programs still had one to two years remaining on their original four-year grants. The impact of CCAMPIS has been profound, offering essential childcare support that enables student parents to pursue their education and build a better future for their families.

At the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM), CCAMPIS is housed under our TRIO umbrella, even though it’s not officially a TRIO program. We are incredibly grateful to have received a Continuation Award for the final year of our grant cycle. This allows us to continue supporting our student parents—at least for now.

We owe immense gratitude to the National Coalition for Campus Childcare Centers (N4C/NCCCC), whose advocacy made the CCAMPIS grant possible in the first place. Their work remains vital.
This is more than a funding issue—it’s a matter of educational equity and opportunity. Let’s keep raising awareness and fighting for these programs that change lives.

There will be a scrimmage, followed by a team autograph session on Tailgate Terrace, samples from our new concessionaire, CorrCom, and more. Season ticket packages will also be available for pickup and for sale.

Last Saturday, December 14, 2024, Stormy graduated magna cm laude with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She plans to continue her studies at LSU in the Social Work Master's program this coming Spring 2025.

The TRIO CCAMPIS staff is incredibly proud of Stormy for her determination and perseverance. Balancing parenthood, work, and school is no small feat, and Stormy has shown remarkable dedication. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors!
