I am looking for seven students to start a Google@ASU student organization. “Innovation comes from anywhere!” - All majors are welcome! These students will have contact with Google employees and have the opportunity to become future Google Student Ambassadors. The ultimate goal of this organization will be to let Google know how amazing the students are at ASU so they continue to choose Google Stu
dent Ambassadors from our university and look to our university for internship and employment opportunities. What is a Google Student Ambassador(GSA)? A Google Student Ambassador is a liaison between Google and their campuses. They plan and host fun events on campus, act as a campus contact for Google teams, and help Google better understand each university's culture. Every summer GSAs are flown out to the Googleplex in Mountain View, California for a three day summit where they learn about Google products and the company’s culture. I am the current Google Student Ambassador for Alabama State University. I am one of two GSAs in the state of Alabama, the other ambassador attends The University of Alabama. How do you join Google@ASU? You can apply by filling out the application at this link (bit.ly/ASUGoogleApplication - CASE SENSITIVE). The deadline is August 31st. I’m only looking for my officers right now (Vice President, Treasurer, Historian, etc.), If you aren’t chosen to be an officer we will have a general recruitment process during the club fair. Also keep an eye out for posters around campus. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A COMPUTER SCIENCE MAJOR TO APPLY! What type of projects would you work on as a member of Google@ASU? Google Drives... - High school students in the Montgomery area will write and illustrate a children’s book using only Google Drive to collaborate, create, and submit the book. As a member of Google@ASU you will work on the planning, marketing, and execution of this event. Black History Month Virtual Tour App/Website - We will create an app and/or website that uses Google Earth to give virtual tours of historic civil rights locations in Alabama. The app will allow children who aren’t able to take field trips to these places to still visit these locations. This is a joint project with The University of Alabama and as a member of Google@ASU you would build and market the app/website. Workshops - Google@ASU will host workshops for students, faculty, and the community to show them how to operate and utilize google products. Other projects include: Throwback thursdays, karaoke parties, movie nights, team building activities, and surveys.
