๐Ÿ“š June Social Studies Teacher Professional Learning Registration is NOW OPEN!

Join us for a two-day professional learning experience designed to strengthen high-quality instruction in the social studies classroom. Participants will explore:

โœ… Best practices in social studies instruction
โœ… Inquiry-based learning and disciplinary thinking
โœ… Tennesseeโ€™s revised social studies standards
โœ… High-quality instructional materials
โœ… Instructional shifts for effective implementation

This training is intentionally designed as a cohesive two-day experience, with learning building across both days to support deeper collaboration, engagement, and classroom application. Participants must attend both full days to receive professional learning credit.

2026 MOHHC Teacher Fellow Introduction

We are excited to announce the members of our 2026 MOHHC Teacher Fellowship cohort. Please help us welcome Bruce Stubblefield back to the Program!

Bruce Stubblefield is a social studies educator with over 12 years of experience and currently teaches at Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He previously served as the 9 to 12 Social Studies Content Lead for Hamilton County Schools, providing curriculum leadership across more than 40 schools, and has taught Economics, IB History of the Americas, and US History with a strong focus on inquiry based learning and civic engagement.

Bruce is President of the Tennessee Council for the Social Studies, serves on the Board of Delegates for the National Council for the Social Studies, and has been a Senior Fellow with the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center Teacher Fellowship for the past four years. He led district-wide implementation of the Inquiry Design Model and received the Tennessee Financial Literacy Leadership Award in 2024. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from The University of Alabama.

Bruce is married to an educator and is the father of three sons. Outside the classroom, he enjoys reading history and science fiction, hiking and camping, soccer, college football, video games, and yard work.

Tennessee Center for Civic Engagement & Learning will host a 5-day summer seminar in 2026 for 20 participating teachers, following the national seminar model designed by the Hamilton School for Classical and Civic Education and the Center. The seminar will include 36 hours of professional learning, covering four themes aligned with the We the People curriculum and your State Standards.
