Danceworks is both the second-oldest and largest dance group at Yale. We’re a non-audition group committed to spreading the love of dance to everyone, catering to all styles and levels of experience, and giving everyone an opportunity to learn, improve, and perform!

Thank you everyone for all the excitement in our semester dances and workshops. Welcome to Danceworks! We hope y'all have been having fun in rehearsal 🕺 To celebrate, TAP NIGHT will be this Saturday, September 30 from 9:30PM to 1:00AM! There will be fun bonding activities, and the night will culminate in a party at the Saybrook Twelve Pack! The party will start at 11:00PM and is open to all DW members! Pull up and bring friends 👯‍♂️🫶

New semester, new DW t-shirt! 🌟💙

Welcome to the Danceworks fam! We're so thrilled you decided to join us (or continue dancing with us—looking at you, DW vets 👀) this semester! In order to help fund our spectacular showcases, awesome new merchandise, and super fun social events, we kindly ask each Danceworks member to contribute dues. Standard dues are $5 for the entire semester, BUT for just $5 more, you'll secure a ✨stylish✨ Danceworks shirt with a ⚠️NEW DESIGN⚠️!

All you need to do is Venmo $10 to our Co-Business Manager , following the instructions in this form (https://tinyurl.com/DWDUES)! You can also choose to pay double the amount of dues to 💖sponsor another dancer💖. Learn more about how to do so in the form! Calling all dancers! Are you looking for an opportunity to get involved with dance at Yale? Danceworks invites you to sign up to be a choreographer for our upcoming Fall 2023 showcase. No experience with choreography is necessary, and all styles and difficulty levels (from beginner to advanced) are welcome!

This is an amazing opportunity to showcase your talents and passion, collaborate with fellow dancers, and contribute greatly to the Yale dance community. To sign up, fill out the form by Monday, September 11th along with a 15-30 second clip of your choreography.

**PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE NEW TIME(S) FOR THE EVENT**

Everyone get excited! Danceworks CG Liaisons Breanna and Mariah will be leading a multi-style freestyle workshop on Sunday, April 2 in the Schwarzman Dance Studio! The workshop will run from 2:30-3:15 PM. Afterwards, Breanna and Mariah will be holding the first-ever Danceworks Freestyle Roulette (think: Galen Hooks)!!! The freestyle roulette portion of the event will start around 3:15 PM, and you’re welcome to attend one or both parts. Sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/4yjsejaw

What is a freestyle roulette, you ask? Above all, this is a chance to bring together dancers of all styles, backgrounds, and levels of experience for a super hype and low stakes dance battle! Modeled after Galen Hook’s famous freestyle roulette competitions, we will have three freestyle categories for you to compete in: the Streets (hip hop/hype/open style), the Heels (sassy/jazzy/femme, heels optional!), and the Feels (contemporary/lyrical/moody vibes)! Each dancer will spin a virtual wheel to get a random song choice and freestyle prompt to dance to. Two dancers will battle it out and onlookers will cheer as loud as they can, then vote for who they thought best embodied the song and prompt! Since this is freestyle, no one will be using pre-choreographed material, just feeding off of the awesome vibes and music in the moment! The freestyle roulette will continue from there following a bracket format. There will be prizes for winners in each category!

Dancers of all levels, styles, and dance groups are welcome to this event. You may participate in the freestyle workshop (very beginner friendly), watch and vote for your favorites, and/or compete in the freestyle roulette, regardless of previous dance experience and whether or not you've danced with Danceworks before. Join Resty as he teaches LEEJUNG's choreography to "break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored" by Ariana Grande. This workshop is open to all people, no experience needed! You don't need to be in Danceworks to participate, but after the workshop we'll head over to Schwarzman for Danceworks' midterm showing 🥳🕺

*To access Trumbull Dance Studio, enter through the gates closest to Elm and York Street. Enter the doors to the dining hall on your right and head down to the basement. Make a right and the dance studio will be down the hall near the buttery!
