Five intrepid Crescent City #73 lodge members got up early this morning and worked to clean up the Helvetia Lodge tomb in Valence Cemetery in uptown New Orleans. We weren’t able to get atop the structure, but did a good bit to improve the front of the mausoleum, and we’ll be back soon with the right ladders to finish the job. Thanks to all who came out!

Crescent City #73 met yesterday under the oaks at New Orleans City Park for a fun picnic social! We had a good turnout and several prospective members turned out to meet the lodge and get to know everyone. Thanks to Noble Grand P Daniel Jeffreys and social committee chair PNG Cristo Dulom, who are working to increase this kind of fellowship activity for the lodge, we’ll definitely be doing more fun outings like this in the near future, so stay tuned and join us for more odd fun to come!

On Saturday, March 22, members of Crescent City #73 got together to clean out the catch basins that provide drainage for the streets outside of Odd Fellows Rest cemetery. This will help to protect the cemetery from flooding as we move into the rainier months of the year.

The lodge thanks event organizer Michael Duplantier and members Glenn Morganstern, Kelly Wierman, Eddie Dugal, Frank Ruhol, Michael Jacobs, and Noble Grand Geoff Polson for their hard work on a Saturday morning. Many hands make light work!

A statement from our lodge written by outgoing Noble Grand Darren Labarthe , regarding the New Year's Day tragedy in our home city of New Orleans. The Noble Grand and several of our members visited the memorial this morning, January 5th, to bring flowers and the condolences of our Lodge.

The Weight of Tragedy at Home

Tragedy. A word that carries the weight of immense suffering, loss, and despair. It shatters our sense of security, challenges our understanding of the world, and leaves us grappling with questions that may never have satisfying answers.

In the face of tragedy, we are often left feeling helpless, adrift in a sea of grief. Anger, confusion, and a profound sense of injustice can consume us. More significantly when it happens here in our city and in our community.

Yet, within the depths of tragedy, we also find extraordinary resilience. We witness acts of incredible courage, compassion, and selflessness. Crescent City Lodge No. 73 Odd Fellows of New Orleans collectively finds in some ways to relive the distress in our community by supporting one another, strangers and neighbors who offer acts of kindness, and a collective spirit of hope emerges from the darkness.

Tragedy forces us to confront our mortality, to cherish the preciousness of life, and to appreciate the bonds us of Friendship, Love, and Truth that binds us together. It reminds us that even in the darkest of times, there is always the potential for light, for healing, and for the enduring strength of the human spirit.

The Odd Fellows of New Orleans stand and pray with you.
