This summer, senior biology major Nolan Martin spent several weeks conducting hands-on research on the effects of plastic breakdown products, working alongside Associate Professor of Biology Dr. Marosh Furimsky.

As one of 10 students selected for Westminster’s Summer Research Fellowship, Nolan gained real-world research experience while exploring a topic he’s passionate about—an experience that will serve him well as he pursues a career in medicine.

⚾️ Classroom learning, with a side trip to PNC Park! Students in Westminster College’s cluster course “La pelota: Baseball in the DR” took their studies to the ballpark Wednesday night, attending the Pittsburgh Pirates game at PNC Park.

The course explores the history and culture of the Dominican Republic and its deep connection to baseball and the sociology of sport. Students got to see that connection firsthand as several Dominican players took the field, including Esmerlyn Valdez, Oneil Cruz and Camilo Doval. 🇩🇴
