It’s not easy to recover from depression. Especially if you don’t have any way of seeking medical advice or you don’t have any guidance. Most of the people are aware of things to be done to get out of this but only some are successful. Remember that the result will be slow. Academic stress can only be overcome gradually as you know slow and steady wins the race.
People say if you are feeling depressed, talk to someone. The perfect people here will be your family; most importantly your parents. But trust me it’s very difficult to express oneself in such situations. The problem is as you guys say...mental health issues as a whole are considered a taboo subject. Stress related to academic pressure is something that is not even considered real in majority of the house holds. Moreover people these days have no patience to listen and understand, they just start throwing unnecessary advices. You are not taken seriously but you have to fight for yourself and show them that you are serious and your problem is just as serious. If you are lucky enough to have a understanding and motivating soul with you, please do speak to them. Speak about your fears, your guilts, your anxiety, your issues, whatever it may be. Cry a little. Hug them. And feel blessed to have them in your life. And if you don’t have anyone, just download any writing app, and write about your feelings. Writing has same calming effect like talking to someone. Write every day or maybe once a week or whenever you feel like. Speak or write or do both. But let your mind be in some peace, even if it is for short time.
