Intern for the Better
Challenged to actively engage in their local communities by partnering with not-for-profits, two teams of summer interns from Turner’s offices in Austin, Houston, and San Antonio, Texas took $2,500 dollars each and set out to make a difference.
One team selected The Children's Shelter, an organization that provides a safe haven and residential treatment for abused, neglected, and abandoned children in San Antonio, building sand play areas for the kids and putting in flower beds to spruce up the Shelter’s grounds. The other team selected the Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition’s Wildlife Center in Houston, building pens for rescued animals undergoing emergency and rehabilitative treatment.
“I am proud to report that both teams stayed within budget and safely completed their projects,” said Mike Kaiman, vice president and general manager of Turner’s South Texas offices. He continued, “They also bonded as teams, had fun and received glowing thank you notes for their accomplishments from each local not for profit.”
