ServiceWorks NYC

ServiceWorks NYC ServiceWorksNYC uses volunteer service as a strategy to help young adults develop skills they need for college and careers. Welcome! We plan these for you!

This page is for prospective applicants, volunteers, current scholars, and alumni! For young people aged 16-24, ServiceWorks provides:

-Community Service
-Skill-building workshops
-Mentors

You will be expected to attend one workshop per week at a participating site for 90 minutes. These workshops are on project planning, networking and job skills. You will also be expected to attend at least th

ree community service projects. In the past we have planted trees, helped sort clothes for children, painted and decorated libraries, and created toys for dogs and cats in NYC shelters. You will also be trained on how to plan your own community service project! Lastly, you will meet with a Success Coach Mentor once per week, and your coach will help you identify and achieve career or academic goals that you want to work on. Want to finish 5 college applications? They will help you. Want to create a resume and apply to 10 different jobs? Want to job-shadow in a field you are interested in? They will help get you there. ServiceWorks is a great opportunity to build job skills while adding valuable volunteer and leadership experience to your resume. Completing ServiceWorks would look equally good on a job application as it would a college application. CURRENT PARTICIPATING SITES:

University Settlement Society of New York at Cornerstone Campos Plaza | The Door: A Center for Alternatives | Broome Street Academy | University Settlement Society of New York at Atlantic Terminal Community Center
