I wonder if people are aware of the pretty cool eclipses coming up. We are going to have a fairly cool solar eclipse on October 14th, with a 10% blockage in NY looking like a solidly bitten cookie but will be a full annular eclipse in many parts of the US. On April 8th, though, we are going to have another Great American Solar Eclipse in the US, which in New York will be blocking between 90% (leaving a tiny clipped fingernail of the sun) and 100% of the sun (leaving a full solar eclipse). The full solar eclipse just so happens to be crossing my alma mater, University of Rochester, as well as likely many of your alma maters as it will cross from Mexico, through Texas, diagonally through New York and covering almost perfectly the entirety of New England north of Connecticut and Massachusetts.

Also, fun fact, isn't it weird that there are so many eclipses right now? After all, we JUST HAD a "Great American Solar Eclipse 2017". Actually, the weirdness is just recency bias. When I was a kid, I read in an encyclopedia a graph of the coverage of eclipses, which occur a full once to twice per year on Earth, but just happened to miss a bunch of the US for many years. We should be seeing quite a few eclipses of various quality every few years for the next few decades.

Hi everyone! I am happy to announce that I have started working with an amazing Spanish tutor, and that he is ready to start a Spanish language online pod with a small group of middle schoolers! It's actually not expensive at all. The benefits of a pod with kids is that they get to socialize, something that is so difficult during COVID. The pod would be for two weekly 55 minute sessions, for twelve weeks, or a total of 24 sessions. The price is $869, and it includes assignments and homework. I've scheduled my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for Saturday, March 6th! I am very excited to get it! I know many of you are not yet eligible to get the vaccine, but I am requesting that all tutors get it as soon as they become eligible. This will protect our students, and it will protect you!
