Thank you to everyone who attended our second annual Trivia Night to benefit Bent Elementary School! We’d also like to thank our favorite new local business, Kelly's on 66, for providing food. Highlights of the evening included learning the items present in a vampire slaying kit, discovering that Snickers were named for the Mars’ family’s pet horse, and a rousing debate about snakes. We ended up raising $650 for students to have access to age-appropriate scientific journals. Again, thank you all so much for coming out and contributing to the cause!

Phi Sigma is excited to announce that registration for the 2nd annual trivia fundraiser is now open. This year the theme is Halloween!
We will have trivia, a costume contest, an option to include dinner with ticket costs, and drinks for purchase at the event! The event will be 7-10pm on October 20th at the Ironwood golf course clubhouse.

Hello Phi Sigma! We hope you have had a productive and slightly restful summer. As the beginning of the fall semester approaches, Phi Sigma is sponsoring a few activities during Welcome Week, as detailed below:

-Wednesday, August 16: head over to Firehouse Pizza at 5:30pm to meet current Phi Sigma members and get to know new graduate students!
-Thursday, August 17: join us at the Bowling and Billiards Center from 5:30 to 7pm for some friendly competition!
-Friday, August 18: unofficial grad student get-together, details TBA ;)
-Saturday, August 19: Invasive Species Removal at Lexington Preserve, followed by lunch at Pub II - meet at the BP off of 55 & the Lexington exit to carpool with other Phi Sigma members; time TBA.

We look forward to seeing you at any or all of these events!

We resume our regularly scheduled programming to present our new President, Logan Sauers! A few words from our fearless leader himself--

Hi, I'm Logan Sauers, your new President. I am excited to work with the new board and the department this semester to provide events that are fun and beneficial to all faculty and students. I claim to work in Dr. Sadd's lab of Disease Ecology and Evolution, but can at times be found lurking in Dr. Juliano's laboratory. I enjoy cooking when I have free time, and think ultimate Frisbee is the best sport. I would also like to claim I am known to constantly beat Tony Breitenbach at Jackbox TV (editor's note: the veracity of this claim has not been confirmed, all complaints of libel can be directed to Logan). I look forward to working on improving departmental communication and hope to grow the size of our research symposium this year.
