At Illinois State, she’s built that path through leadership, hands-on experiences, and persistence, earning 11 internship interviews after applying to 17 programs. On March 25, HDFS students Gabby Bradley, Sarah Szarzynski, and Jennasyn Davis had the pleasure running into Governor JB Pritzker at McLean County Museum of History during their civic engagement activity for FCS 252 Multicultural Family Studies. The students and the Governor had a pleasant conversation. For Sarah, it was one of the most special birthday celebrations she has ever had.

Dr. Erol Sozen, assistant professor in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, has received a $2,000 grant to study how Nutri-Score labeling may influence college students’ food choices.

By examining students’ perceptions and behavioral intentions, this research aims to support healthier decision-making during a pivotal stage in developing lifelong eating habits.
